Hotham to Dinner Plain Pub to Pub Update

Greetings from a cloudy Dinner Plain.

Thankfully Monday nights rain wasn’t like the tropical deluge of a couple of weeks back but we didn’t pick up as much snow as we hoped either, so it ended up a bit of an each way event. Where already well covered the fresh snow has made a nice top up and trail conditions from Hotham to JB Plain are generally pretty good. I skied up to Paw Paw Plain and back from DP yesterday on classical gear before it was groomed and it was good skiing with no dramas on the descents to the picnic area and JB. Trail has now been skidoo groomed through to DP.

There are several thin spots between JB and Dinner Plain – avoidable but an issue – but at this stage the plan is to put some work into them this afternoon. On that note if you’re already at Hotham or DP and would be able to lend a hand this afternoon, please let me know – we may be able to use an extra body or two. 3pm at JB Plain is the plan at the moment.

So at this stage I’m working on the premise that we’ll run the proper course on Saturday but that there may be some obstacle dodging involved (as distinct from long distance carrying of skis like we had some years back!) I’ll post a final track update on the website Thurs evening or Friday morning.

Thanks to those who have already registered for the event. For those that haven’t yet, now’s your chance! I’ll also post a few photos on the website by tomorrow morning.

Hope to see you Saturday.

cheers

Mick
