A 1.2km sprint course, rolling hills with some tough climbs, after completion you can feeling the lactic build up in your legs, your chest is tight from breathing in the cold air and you are drawn to anything warmer than 0 degrees. In reference to the discussion of pain thresholds in our last blog post, this exercise alone would see an average person exceed their ‘comfort zone’ and proceed to stop. But that’s the great thing about cross-country skiing, it doesn’t allow people to be average, or hide away in their comfort zones. Skiers like us learn push above and beyond our limits, and in this circumstance, continue to ski this course another five times at the same intensity.
