Half an Adventure

Part of what I do as a cross-country skier is search for snow. There is usually somewhere in the world that has snow, but it’s nearly impossible to hit the jackpot all the time and always find snow wherever you’ve chosen to go. I consider myself to be one of the less lucky ones, as I manage to often be in the wrong place at the wrong time, whether it be in the dead centre of Sweden, former East Germany, the West of the USA, or of course Australia. However, this time I was well-prepared and built myself two safety catches: I brought rollerskis with me, and I bought a car.

When I last wrote, I was on my way to Livigno, a somewhat barren, long, slightly shabby and most importantly tax-free town high up in the Italian Alps. The journey from Sonthofen, Germany, to Livigno is about 3h45m, yet…
