SAXC seeks EOIs for an Athlete Representative

A new SSA Cross Country Committee (SAXC) was appointed late last year after an extensive internal review. One of the tasks of the new committee not yet completed was the appointment of an Athlete Representative. SAXC are now calling for Expressions of Interest for this position on the committee. The role of the Athlete Representative is to:

  • Bring an athlete’s perspective to general committee discussion and decisions;
  • Advise the committee on athlete specific issues such as selection policies, race calendars, athlete support mechanisms;
  • Consult with current national team athletes and wider athlete community;
  • Ensure that relevant committee decisions are well communicated to the national team and wider athlete community;
  • The Athlete Representative may also have an active role on other sub-committees depending on their personal skills and experience.

The appointment of the Athlete Representative shall be made by a Selection Panel nominated by SSA, and shall be for a period of one year. The appointment process will be a quick one, with the Athlete Representative expected to be in place and available to attend the next SAXC meeting in Mt Beauty on May 24-25. For subsequent appointments of Athlete Representatives SAXC will consider using a ballot system from registered athletes.

Any current or recent (within 2 years) national team athlete is eligible to apply. EOIs should be no longer than 1 page and should briefly outline the issues that the applicant feels are most important for Australian cross country skiing athletes. Applications are due by May 20 and should be submitted via email to Ryan Taylor at info@skiandsnowboard.org.au.
