Vic Squad September Camp – Report & Images

Apologies for the lateness of this post – the report and pics were supplied in September but we forgot to publish it… Sorry!

Victorian Junior Squad Camp – Falls Creek/Mt Beauty, September 21-22
The Vic Team had a very successful spring camp with 18 junior athletes attending. We were blessed with outstanding spring skiing conditions on the Saturday morning and were able to make the most of it with a long ski up to Mt Makay, around to Pretty Valley and down some of the slopes around Sun Valley. There were plenty of opportunities for the athletes to test their skills with some great turns, airs, and stacks along the way. The team was able to continue to soak up the nice weather with a strength and agility session down in Mt Beauty that afternoon. Sunday was less kind with rain and misty condition in the morning. Therefore the team decided to tackle some hills around Mt Beauty completing a solid hill-bounding session. This was a tough session and proved very worthwhile with many athletes learning a lot about aerobic threshold training and pacing in their training. Shortly after morning tea the team had its final session for the weekend. This started with more agility and balance on roller-skis, and concluded with some video technique work.

It was great to see a strong team atmosphere with more new faces joining the team. Thanks for all those that helped on the weekend with accommodation and food. We hope for the same success again at the Millgrove camp in December.
