Hotham to Dinner Plain Pub to Pub Update

An update on the 2013 Pub to Pub from race organiser Mick Sinclair (also posted on the official race website):

Greetings from a fog shrouded and damp Dinner Plain.

After 55 mm of rain over Sunday and Monday things are not what we hoped they would be at this stage of the week. First off, we would need the mother of all miraculous snowfalls Friday to run an event all the way through to Dinner Plain on Saturday – there just isn’t any snow down here. So instead we are faced with the choice between running laps (yet again) at Wire Plain or cancelling – and unfortunately cancellation is a real option. Continue reading

Cooma Open Cancelled

The Cooma Open scheduled for tomorrrow July 21 at Perisher has been cancelled due to snow conditions. New snow fell overnight and more is on the way so hopefully the tracks will be groomed again soon.

XC Towards 2014 – $25 by August 25

The XC Towards 2014 fundraising project was set up to support cross country skiing athletes striving to make it to the Winter Olympics. Over $25,000 of athlete expenses have been paid at major competitions overseas since 2010. Particular mention must be made to the fundraising efforts of Cliff Wallis and the Sundeck Hotel at Perisher, which have made up the lion’s share of contributions to the project over this time.

Combined with financial support from the Falls Creek Resort and international competition grants from the Australian Olympic Committee, funds for the Shadow Olympic Team preparing for Sochi are already looking quite solid. This means that additional funds raised for XC Towards 2014 between now and the end of the year can also be spread to support Australian Teams at other levels of competition such as the 2014 World Junior and U23 Championship. Victorian Junior Championship Cancelled

The Victorian Junior Championships this weekend July 20/21 have been CANCELLED.

After assessing the snow conditions and the forecast rain over the next two days the race organisers concluded that there was minimal chance of preparing race courses for either day. There appears to be some snow in the system that will arrive on Sunday/Monday so hopefully all will be set for the Nationals next weekend at Falls Creek.

Apologies for the cancellation and please contact Ben Derrick, benderrick@fallscreek.com.au or 0400 110 046 for further information.
