2011-2012 Australian Team Selection

The Ski & Snowboard Australia Cross Country Committee (SAXC) has just updated selection policies for National Teams for 2011-2012. The following National Teams will be selected  for 2011-2012 following the 2011 Australian race season:

  • World Cup Team
  • Continental Cup Team
  • National Squad
  • Australian Junior Team

The full selection policies will be posted soon on this site, in the meantime the selection standards can be summarised below:

2011-2012 National Team Selection Standards

  • To be eligible for a National Team, the athlete must achieve two results of the competition standards listed.
  • The results can be in any combination of distance, sprint, or any technique.
  • Where FIS Point results are required, results of the appropriate standard must have been achieved within the preceding 12 months.

World Cup Team

FIS Point Standard
Men: 90 FIS Points
Women: 100 FIS Points

Continental Cup Team

FIS Point Standard
Men: 120 FIS Points
Women: 150 FIS Points

National Squad

National Selection Races
Distance: 10% behind the fastest Australian (12% for U23 athletes)
Sprint: 5% behind the fastest Australian (7% for U23 athletes)

Australian Junior Team

National Selection Races
Distance: 10% behind the fastest eligible Australian Junior
Sprint: 5% behind the fastest eligible Australian Junior

In addition to the National Team programs SAXC will also be launching cross country skiing SSA Futures Camps in September this year. These development camps will be aimed at athletes under the age of 16 who will be selected on the basis of results during the winter and on the recommendations of state and club coaches. Further details will be posted on AUSXC when available.
