Australian Team for Davos World Cup

The Australian Team for the World Cup in Davos this weekend has been confirmed. Four athletes will compete either in the distance races on Saturday or the sprint races on Sunday.

Australia – New Zealand Cup winner Callum Watson will be joined in the 15km Classic by Nick Grimmer, who qualified for World Cup last weekend in Swiss Cup in the Goms. This will be Grimmer’s first World Cup race since March 2009. For Watson it will be his third World Cup this season and he is looking to improve on his result in the 15km in Gallivare three weeks ago.

On Sunday Esther Bottomley will compete in the Davos Freestyle Sprint World Cup for the fourth time. Her previous best result in this event was 47th place in 2006. In the men’s sprint race there will be three Australians on the start line; Callum Watson, Nick Grimmer, and Ewan Watson making his World Cup debut.
