Race Licences for 2010 are now due and available via the Ski & Snowboard Australian website. All skiers who wish to compete in national or state championship events at open, junior, or masters level will need some form of SSA Registration. In particular all athletes requiring a FIS Licence should register as soon as possible via the SSA website if they want to be eligible for FIS points during the Australian winter. Continue reading
The Paddy Pallin Junior cross country ski race will be held at 11am on Saturday 3 July 2010 – at the Perisher Valley Nordic Shelter. The race is for children up to 16 years of age (for the 2010 race you must be under 16 years at 31 December 2009). The Paddy Pallin Junior has been a Perisher Valley event for many years; our records suggest that this is the 52nd year. It is the OLDEST cross country ski event in Australia (older than the KAC and older than the Paddy Pallin Classic (now replaced by the Snowy Mountains Classic) – and it’s just for the YOUNGEST skiers. The Australian Ski Chase is a XC Ski Racing Series that incorporates 19 of Australia’s top club based citizen races. Complete 5 events and be eligible for a share in over $2000 worth of prizes.
Last weekend the Cross Country National Team completed a testing camp at the Australian Institute of Sport. Fourteen team members took part in the three days of testing, which included VO2 max tests on a treadmill, upper body power tests, and a biomechanical analysis of double poling technique.
