The 2011-2012 Cross Country Skiing National Teams have just been released by SAXC, the cross country committee for Ski & Snowboard Australia. Esther Bottomley and Callum Watson are the only two athletes named to the World Cup Team for 2011-2012, with Ewan Watson, Mark van der Ploeg and Alex Almoukov on the Continental Cup Team. [...]

Australia’s international ski marathon the Kangaroo Hoppet was held on Saturday August 27 at Falls Creek in north-east Victoria. The first skier across the line in the premier 30km Freestyle event was Petr Novak from the Czech Republic, making it the third time in the event’s 21 year history that a Czech skier has won. [...]

The classic distance races of the 2011 Australian Championship series were held yesterday Sunday August 21 at Perisher. The Open Women 5km Classic was won by Esther Bottomley 35 seconds ahead of Aimee Watson. The Open Men 10km Classic was won by Ben Sim 32 seconds ahead of Alex Almoukov. The 2011 Australian Sprint Freestyle Championships were held at Perisher on Saturday August 20. The Open Women A-Final was won by Esther Bottomley ahead of the U20 Champion Anna Trnka, with 3rd place going to another junior Siobhan Jones. The Australian 15 / 30 km Championships were held this Saturday in Perisher in conjunction with the Snowy Mountains Classic. Perfect weather and super fast conditions made for an excellent day.
